I have noticed that in the consideration of porn actors, most people seem to portray only women as victims.

For Debate/Discussion: Is this just sexism, or are women more vulnerable because of the media's sexism?

My Stance: Yes, this is sexism.

I do agree that most porn is quite sexist the way it depicts women. I've thought about this a bit and the best idea I can come up with on the subject is that they are embracing the stereotype men like to give themselves. Note I'm taking this from a business standpoint in which men are the target audience of most pornography.

The reason they make women so submissive in porn is because it plays to the stereotype of men dominating women, a stereotype so old and outdated that when called on it most men will turn tail and run.

It's a simple idea. Men are powerful physically and therefore feel their 'masculine' image should extend to their sexuality in which all women want and revere them sexually. Men like to enjoy the idea that women crave them, that they can 'get down wit their bitchaz' and be 'playaz' when really it's just about their own insecurities in dealing with the opposite sex.

The truth of the matter is, from my perspective, that men realise the power of women to control their sex lives and take an assertive role in any sexual relationship and this realisation scares them. Suddenly it doesn't matter how hot or manly they are, it comes down to the woman's choice.

Hmm therefore porn shows exactly what the male ego wants, girls ready and willing to jump at them in an instant.

Interesting, but not entirely what I meant. I meant that when you hear people speaking against porn, they're nearly always talking about why the poor women get involved. There's no why the poor men get involved--not even in gay porn. It's all very sexist in that it implies that woman are inherently weaker and less able to make healthy choices for themselves than men.

Hmm I've never understood why people have such a problem with people who choose to act in pornography. One thing I will point out for discussion is the sexist way women are 'selected' for porn. Why do the women have to be blonde/25/DD and the guys seem to be whoever puts there hand up?

I can't say I've watched enough porn to konw whether or not that's true, so I'll take your word for it. The answer, I imagine, is becuase I'm assuming most of the porn you've seen (note: seen, not watched) is heterosexual porn. I imagine it would be very different in gay porn.

Men in porn are largely chosen for their ability to get an erection and ejaculate as soon as possible after being told to do so, as that cuts down on shooting costs.
